The truth about Santa

The news are too depressing generally to be commented on really. With one exception that provided instant comic relief on so many levels to many people.

A famous and renown greeting cards manufacturer in the UK has unwittingly unleashed a sh*t storm online by claiming that Santa has all the attributes to live in a council estate: a dowdy looking guy who works only once a year, lives on benefits, drinks like a fish and wears the same clothes everyday, among other characteristics listed on their latest Christmas card. Corporate greed at its worst making fun of the poor unemployed people, the same who yet buy their cards for Christmas. At least, the resulting stream of abuse and complaints aimed at the company was funny and entertaining to read online :)

Apparently, according to their website listing seasonal vacancies, the company pays its temporary Christmas workers from £4.96 up to £6.50 an hour which is below the living wage of £7.85 an hour. This probably means that a lot of their employees must live in council flats and are among the people the company makes fun of with its greeting cards.
